BiographyMark Baskinger is a Professor in the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University, where he also serves as the Director of the Joseph Ballay Center for Design Fusion. His academic work focuses on industrial and interaction design, with specialized research interests in "deep time" artifacts and durational design intended to last for generations. As a prominent designer, he co-directed the MoonArk project, a massive collaborative effort that sent a cultural time capsule to the Moon as a permanent museum for future discovery. He is also the co-author of Drawing Ideas: A Hand-Drawn Approach for Better Design, a widely used textbook that promotes visual thinking and sketching to foster creative collaboration. His award-winning work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Beyond the classroom, he has contributed to the field as a creative director and as a founding member of the EcoDesigners Guild of Pittsburgh.
